9=T-8/4
Also, there is this one:

Twice the lesser of two consecutive integers is 12 less than three times the greater integer. Find the lesser integer.

Work, please.
Sorry, I was unclear with the first problem. Let me clarify:

It is T-8 OVER 4, not T minus 8/4, or any other way to write it. It is t-8/4.

It seems to me that a lot of the questions I answer can easily be answered if the person just typed their question into an internet search engine…

I don’t bother answering those types of questions because it’s, practically, common knowledge – since it’s on the internet; it’s in the public domain.

What I don’t get, though, is why people Ask Questions here on YA instead of just putting the same, usually less, effort into finding out the answers themselves.

Can someone give me an explanation as to why people would choose to not bother finding out themselves and just be told the answer, apart from laziness or plain bone-idleness?

And why do people not choose a best answer to the question they’ve asked when there is obviously one already.
I try not to vote for myself if there’s a better answer in case, at the last moment, I need to break a “deadlock” vote.

Don’t you get points back for choosing a best answer?

Perhaps it is just because they got the info and don’t care about YA except for getting quick answers.

Maybe I just answered my own question, but I thought I’d figure it out by asking one when I could’ve just searched the answer myself.

In that case, how about this for a question:

Which do you think is the best way to learn for you?
Points for good explanations, not just a quick “2 pointer” on simply choosing one and stating it…

Best way to learn – RTFI, seeking, trial and error, theory and application.

Explanations of combinations of the above would be exceptional and pro’s and cons would be appreciated.

Remember – this is about you and not about how *I* would learn.
I know that sometimes, to get a best answer, you have to kow-tow to a person’s ideals and give them the answer they want (which is why I try not to answer those types of questions – I kow-tow to no-one and strive to always be frank, honest and direct in my communications and answers).

I’m asking this cos I’m 1 point away from level 4 and I want to get there by a best answer, not by voting or answering a question.

(Now I’m 6 away…)

Please answer honestly and willingly. Jokes would be appreciated if you haven’t anything useful to add – maybe something that makes me laugh about learning (since learning is fun) would be best?

Hell – give me a psychoanalysis if you want.

Have fun with that one…
Nice one Rock – that one made me laugh!
And it is fun to answer stupid questions sometimes with a sarcastic or derogatory answer…

Except that it usually means that an account gets deleted and you gotta start over…
I keep a YA tab open on my browser whenever I’m on the computer and it keeps on emailing me questions, as do other people…

It’s a fun distraction.

And as for the levelling – I just wanted to play the game I’ve set myself. That is – proceeding in the best or hardest way possible through any given system.

The game may be a bit of a waste of time, but giving people answers isn’t – I don’t mind my volunteer work with Addicts and people suffering from Suicidal thoughts and / or Depression.

I see answering some of the questions here to be the same type of thing.

If you think helping people out is a waste of time that only people with time to waste do, then you certainly need to re-appraise your view on life, my dear.

Would you like to see my schedule? It’s quite busy, all over London.

I’ve booked YA in from 9-5 today, tomorrow, everyday forever.

I do nothing else but sit on YA and answer questions because I have no life and nothing better to do – you’re entirely right.

Well done.
Nb for those of low intellect, that last comment was SARS-carsick.

or in your language:

:7>

or wvrtf it is.
Hey sexyguy – why no picture? I want to see how sexy you are.

Did you read the question?

In fact did any of you?

You’re not answering anything but the headline, except for one person.

So far.

Yesterday I made the mistake of asking “Muslims how do you deal with hermaphrodite children” in the Religion and Spirituality section. I didn’t get very good answers, just sarcasm or insults. Maybe it’s the way I phrased or that I mentioned that men and women are differentiated greatly in Muslim culture, because men and women pray separately, and women have to wear hijab etc. But I didn’t want this question to turn into an argument. I wanted to know precisely how this would pertain to hermaphrodites. I did learned according to one answer, and some internet links, that the child would undergo an operation, to be changed into the sex that they already had the predominant features of.

So now my question is this: What happens next, would they be a allowed to marry? Would the person they’re engaged to have to be told?

Here’s the link to my other question as you can see, it was a spectacular failure I’d appreciate any genuine and detailed answer, thank you.

For you network marketers and MLM junkies, you are going to read one of the most boring articles you will ever read by me. This article however, will be one of the most important article as it will attempt to explain the new 3.0 technologies that run this exciting program and is the application which most programs will run on for the next 10 years or. What is Web 3.0? In order to understand Web 3.0, we must balance it against the existing Web 2.0. In the Web 2.0 universe, searching Google for aEoeBrent VandersteltaE will yield a plethora of unrelated hits. Web 3.0 solves this problem by providing context to searching for online information. Web 3.0 arguably is not simply an extension of web 2.0. Control of Information Where Web 3.0 is about control of information web 2.0 is about information overload. The most obvious example is in the sheer explosion of programs and passwords on the Web which claim to encourage networking and socialization. Web 3.0 attempts to bring order and allow users to be more accurate in searching and finding precisely what they want. Interoperability By opening up access to information, Web 3.0 applications can run on any device, computer, or mobile phone. Applications can be very fast and customizable. Unlike Web 2.0, where programs such as Facebook and MySpace exist in separate silos, Web 3.0 allows users to roam freely from database to database, program to program. Openness Web 3.0 is about openness. By aEoeopeningaE application programming interfaces (APIs), protocols, data formats, open-source software platforms and open data, you open up possibilities for creating new tools. Although Unlike openness can result in identity theft, Web 3.0 attempts to remedy this through: aEc Open identity aEc OpenID aEc Open reputation aEc The ability for roaming portable identity and personal data. What is the Semantic Web? As the next generation of the Web, Semantic Web circumvents many of the information silos that currently exist on the Web.

The Semantic Web does this by removing data barriers and enabling machines to talk to each other in an almost “artificially intelligent” manner about the context and nature of the content they contain. Unlike Web 2.0, which was coined by Tim O’Reilly in 2004, the Semantic Web has had its origins since the earliest days of the World Wide Web, when its creators had envisioned and planned for the Semantic Web infrastructure. How the Semantic Web is Changing Search Engines Semantic searching uses algorithms which set it apart from traditional search algorithms from Google’s or Yahoo’s. Second-generation web search engine technologies are said to provide more controlled searching, semantic searching improves traditional search engine querying by using XML and RDF data from semantic networks. In doing so, semantic search engines attempt to disambiguate search queries and text words, semantic search attempts to increase relevancy of results. How does Web 3.0 affect Marketing Instead of continuing with the existing model, where online marketers push marketing messages to consumers and hope they are relevant, let consumers pull the online marketing messages they want based on their personal (aka human) needs. This would work especially well where the buying process involves the internet, which is to say almost all the time. Can you now see the importance of self branding? The most important application for branding is not for products aE” it’s for individuals to define and own their career identity and create their own performance and business success.

You can have an amazing brand, but if no one knows about it, you are not going to have much success with your career development. And no one more than you has more reasons to promote your brand. MyiSystem is built on the Web 3.0 platform and has taken care of the self branding issues that are important in the semantic web. You have to brand yourself and position yourself as a leader or expert in your field. Get your MyiSystem today.

While hoteliers suffer sleepless nights the debate continues as to whether they should discount prices in light of the economic climate. In reality, it has never been more important to revisit your revenue and pricing strategies. Research shows that discounting prices can have both long and short term negative effects and when one hotel discounts prices, the competition soon follows. This renders the activity purposeless and can potentially damage future profitability. This isn’t to say that Revenue Managers cannot respond to the down-turn appropriately with calculated alternatives that will ensure sustainability during these challenging times. Creative thinking and marketing is certainly key – but where should hoteliers focus their efforts?

Hotels will always approach the concept of “special offers & promotions” differently according to their budget and clientele. A hotel in Melbourne is currently offering the chance to win a SMART car if you choose to host your conference, meeting or exhibition at the hotel. This promotion is used to incentivise potential clients into booking this venue above the competition. Of course, many hotels will not have the budget to offer such a prize but this does not mean the concept wouldn’t work on a smaller scale. A spa resort in Thailand is currently offering a weather guarantee too all guests at the hotel during the rainy season. If there is a full day of rain guests are entitled to gain a full refund in credits for treatments at the hotel’s spa.

Generating ancillary revenue is a further innovative way of optimising your hotel’s profits–maximise revenue from your existing bookings rather than culling your prices in an attempt to gain more reservations. Offering local tours and activities have proven to boost revenue, this also serves to add value to your website in terms of content. Remember, guests generally choose destination before hotel. Therefore adding web page content that relates to the destination (and your relationships with it through tours and activities) will only have a positive influence on a potential guest’s choice. The new pages will also be indexed by the search engines and should enhance your overall online visibility for new search terms.

Using opaque channels is a simple way to get rid of distressed inventory and best of all you can maintain rate integrity. An opaque channel makes parts of the online sales process hidden, for example the hotel name. By using opaque channels you can offer prices that are significantly lower than published rates. Hotels can price discriminate between those customers who are sensitive to service characteristics and those who are not and profit from such discrimination. Taking a look at your customer segments can also be beneficial in establishing how to tackle discounts and special offers. Customers vary in terms of price sensitivity; there are still potential guests who do not expect discounts! Make sure you consider this fragment of potential guests.

Hoteliers must adapt revenue management and pricing strategies to take advantage of new trends in customer behaviour and distribution. For that reason, appropriate representation on GDS channels and IDS channels will increase electronic sales for suitable hotels. The number of reservations being generated through these channels is growing steadily. GDS and IDS account for 60% of online bookings so for suitable hotels, there couldn’t be a better time to invest. Hoteliers must remember the majority of potential guests are not brand loyal nor do they have a fixed booking pattern; they simply book from the hotel offering them the best deal. The unpredictability of such behavior means that hotels must maintain a presence on all possible distribution channels if they want a sizeable share of the online market.

Creative ideas, promotions and marketing are effective alternatives to discounting your prices. Maximising revenue from existing bookings and adding value to your guest’s experiences will ensure more repeat business and optimised profits.
